UPDATE March 23 at 8:03pm:
The teachers should have sent a new Google Classroom code. Please join using this and leave the old class. This was a glitch as DOE rolled out the new system quickly, thank you for your patience.
UPDATE March 23 at 2:10pm:
P.S.39 Staff now has a DOE account and is in the process of updating all shared files such that students can access them. Look for updates within Google Classroom from your teachers.
This is a known issue that P.S. 39 is working to resolve with NYC DOE.
The core problem is that your child’s @nycstudents.net address issued by the DOE is currently prohibited to view any Google Drive files created by a non-DOE account, which unfortunately includes @ps39.org accounts. This holds true even if the file‘s permissions are set to allow anyone with the link to view it. Unfortunately, Google Classroom automatically uploads any attachment to Google Drive, making them inaccessible for your students’ accounts.
For now, please ask your teachers to use another public cloud storage such as Dropbox as a work-around until DOE fixes this problem..
Several parents have reported that Chromebooks with parental controls / Google family link accounts are having problems adding their child’s DOE account.
Please try to set up the Chromebook using an adult’s account without parental controls. / Google family link.
Please note that some Chromebook users have reported issues with uploading assignments. One known work-around is downloading Google Classrooms on your phone to submit assignments via the app.
